Opposition

Opposition is a procedure before the competent office (DPMA or EUIPO) whereby an owner can enforce their earlier rights against a later filing. Opposition proceedings are considerably more cost-effective than court litigation and can lead to the deletion of the later mark. Opposition must be filed within a statutory deadline, which varies by office.
